Here in Videos, you'll find some intriguing walk-throughs of the 3D models I've built. All were made in SketchUp, and animated in Movie Maker. Each movie, when clicked, will open in a new window. Obviously the download times will vary depending on your connection speed, but the size of each movie is noted for your convenience. Lastly all movies are in WMV format.

The Columbiad Cannon

August 2007

As anyone who knows me will testify, I have a certain affinity to the Disney theme parks. Working from photos taken on trips to the Paris resort and my copy of From Sketch to Reality, I built this model of the Columbiad Cannon, part of the Space Mountain attraction in Discoveryland. I have tried to be as accurate as possible, and take in as much detail in this latest SketchUp model.

The Simpsons House

February 2006

Meticulous planning was required for this building, and plenty of observation of old Simpsons episodes! A few liberties were taken on actual layout, as the animators on the show weren't massively particular about consistency, serving jokes as necessary, but suffice to say, the model itself is about as accurate as possible.

Temple of Terror

July 2005

This theme park ride was a conceptual plan, loosely based on the ever-popular Indiana Jones attraction in Disneyland, except the audience's host is the lovable but inept Ted. This video takes you on a tour of the exterior and through the main tunnels of the attraction. The Jeep video gives an idea of the audience transport through the action sequences. Get on over to Themed Entertainment for stills of the building.

The Laramie Project

January 2005

When designing The Laramie Project, I made a 3D model of the space in addition to a physical model box in order to simulate the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff. By placing the scenic elements in the model, including backcloth plans from Photoshop the huge fence and the band underneath, I could get an idea of scale, which was an important factor of the overall design. There's plenty more about The Laramie Project in Theatre.
